How much did the government earn from the petroleum levy in 6 months?

The government has collected Rs 472 billion from the public in six months in the form of petroleum levy. This is 166% higher than the levy collected during the same period last year.

The petroleum tax collected in the first half of the current financial year is 54% of the anticipated budget levy. The first quarter of this fiscal year saw 222 billion rupees in petroleum levy.

The government set a petroleum duty collection of Rs 869 billion in the current fiscal year’s budget, but the IMF was promised that increasing the charge on petrol and high-speed diesel from Rs 50 to Rs 60 per liter would raise the collection to Rs 918 billion.

Petroleum product sales fell 15% nationwide in July–December. In the first half of the current fiscal year, the Oil Companies Advisory Council reported 76.80 million metric tons of petroleum product sales nationwide.
