India beat New Zealand to qualify for the World Cup final.

In the First semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, India beat New Zealand by 70 runs thanks to the destructive bowling of Mohammed Shami, after which the Indian team reached the final of the mega event.

49th over, New Zealand was bowled out for 327 runs while chasing a goal of 398 runs set by India.

In the first semi-final, India chose to bat first after winning the toss against New Zealand in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

India, batting first, amassed 397 runs in 50 overs at a cost of 4 wickets.

Together with Shubman Gill, captain Rohit Sharma opened the innings. Both batsmen gave the team a fast start, taking the total to 71 runs in 8.2 overs before India’s first wicket fell.

Playing aggressive innings, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made 47 runs in 29 balls before Tim Southee’s delivery brought him back to the pavilion.

By striking his 50th six against New Zealand during his innings, Rohit Sharma also broke the record for most World Cup sixes, defeating former West Indies batsman Chris Gayle.

After opening batsman Shubman Gill pulled off injured after reaching a half-century, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli beat New Zealand innings with partnered to take the score to 164 runs.

After that, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer shared a scorching 164 runs for the third wicket, pushing India closer to a significant goal.

Before David Conway caught him off bowling by Tim Southee, Virat Kohli amassed 117 runs off 113 balls.

KL Rahul scored 39 runs in a furious last over before Shubman Gill batted once more in the final over and finished unbeaten on an 80-run score.

The toss of the match

India and New Zealand are playing in the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first.
